KEN RATHER
Carlsbad, CA--Directed MFG, an additive and direct digital manufacturing company for both plastics and metals, has hired Ken Rather as production manager for the Austin, TX manufacturing facility which opens in April, 2009.
Ken brings 13 years of rapid prototyping and direct digital manufacturing experience with him, and recently served as manager of operations for Solid Concepts. While there, Ken was instrumental in managing production SLS jobs, including those which required FR-106, in addition to operating a variety of manufacturing equipment. His career in the industry began at DTM, where the laser sintering technology was incepted, and the first machines were made.
As production manager, Ken will oversee current and upcoming prototype and production projects for both plastic laser sintering (SLS) and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) requirements. Further responsibilities include oversight and set-up operator of all SLS prototype and production projects.
“With the hiring of Ken Rather and the AS9100B certification we earned in 2008, Directed MFG is positioned to be the premier source for both SLS and DMLS production additive manufacturing requirements,” said Tory Sirkin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Further, these efforts exhibit our continuing interests in meeting and exceeding the quality requirements of our aerospace and orthopedic customers.”
Founded in 2006, Directed MFG operates a variety of HiS and HiQ SLS systems, including a large-tray EOS P730, M270 metal laser sintering machines and CNC equipment.
